"Have character, but don't be a character." -- Richard Marcinko
THE CODE
Our Code of Conduct (CoC) is here for directional purposes. Some parts of the CoC are vague on purpose, because it is hoped that common sense, good judgment and consideration for other Guild-mates will be the normal way the Crimson Dragons play EverQuest 2 with each other and with other Guilds. Understanding that it is up to each individual to use good judgment in varying issues, raids, and events will make your stay in our Guild overwhelmingly enjoyable. If we were to spell out each and every possibility of what to do in each circumstance, no matter how rare or common, it would then be an awfully long CoC and boring to read. Use our CoC for direction, use good judgment as best you can, and if in doubt, ask. Keep in mind that all who play here come to have fun, get well-needed items, and have great adventures as a team while also maintaining the Crimson Dragons’ outstanding reputation. Ideally, keeping an eye on the enjoyment of your fellow adventurer means that in a group or a raid you have many other people keeping an eye out for you, as well.
MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
We are a collective of friends who help each other and are committed to each other, beyond loot and epics.
Always be courteous and respectful to your guild mates. Be responsive to members’ logon greetings and farewells. Saying a quick “Hi” or “Bye” in /gu really means a lot to most of us.
Be helpful to other members. If you can provide a service or information that another member needs, you should be willing to do so. Helping each other is what we are here for, and other members and officers always look upon favors to others in a good light.
Do your best to attend all guild functions. Guild functions are described as raids of appropriate level, parties, tournaments, meetings and other various events where all guild participation is required if you are on-line. If you are online during the time of a guild event, you should do your best to attend. If no effort is seen on your part to make it there, then the guild officers may take action. Of course, RL (real life) can preclude your attending, or you're already helping someone else, or you're on a different faction, or you just don't feel in the mood for an event that day. But, if over a period of time, you are consistently in-game elsewhere when everyone else is doing some guild raid/event, then it would be a cause of concern, because one of the most important things about being in a guild is helping each other out.
Check the website regularly! Guild members and leaders often post news and events on the guild forum. You should spend a few minutes at least every other day to browse the website and see what is going on. The forums make up over 80% of our communication.
Be a good representative of the guild. This is an open-ended responsibility, because all members should know what it means to be a good EQ2 player. Do your best to be the best. If you see a fellow guild-mate abusing our CoC, please let an officer know or ask the person nicely to refer to our CoC web page.
Don't engage in arguments with other players in /shout or /ooc. This makes the guild look bad and is generally annoying for everyone. If you feel it necessary to discuss differences then take it to /tells. Always keep in mind that what you say and do reflects upon your entire guild.
GUILD SAY
Guild say is a way for guild members to communicate. It is a way to actively participate in asking and answering questions, seeking advice, looking for a group, and having fun when a topic that concerns many people is brought up. Basically, guild say can be used for anything, except the following: auctions, arguments, or having active and long conversations with a single person, because the text can get excessive and be an irritation to others. If you have to talk to a single person, take it to /tells or your own private channel. Use tact and respect when talking to others in guild and raid say. Never use foul or abusive language in guild or raid say.
Do not constantly beg for items! This will not be tolerated. If you are at a level where there is an item you should definitely not have, then don't beg other members to get one for you. If you are at a level where that item is within your grasp, then others will be more then happy to help you get it, but we don't actively support excessive tweaking/twinking. That means, for example, do not continually ask members for items for your Monk twink when your main is a Shadow Knight.
Do not ask for power leveling! We are not a power leveling service. You will meet friends in the guild, who share your interests, occasionally those friends will offer to help you level, this is perfectly ok, but do not expect it and do not ask for it.
GUILD BANK
The Guild Bank is there for all members. Weapons, armor, spells, etc. If you can't sell or pass down an item, please give it to the bank. Members needing items from the bank, please don't hesitate to ask.
The Vault message forum is also readily available for all members. The Guild Leader and Guild Officers will often loot items on raids and list them in The Vault. If you need any of the items listed, please let the person who posted the message know.
GUILD STRUCTURE
Arguments Between Members: Do not fall into the trap of making assumptions about people without being aware of all the facts about any situation. Remember that even if you don't seem to have an easy relationship with someone in the guild, that person has been able to gain membership through successful interactions with others in the guild. All may not share your perceptions. Do not wage any personal wars. Civil and effective communication between members who disagree with each other will promote understanding and a truce.
Officer's Open Door Policy: Officers of the Crimson Dragons are here for your assistance. Feel free and comfortable to approach any officer at any time with any problem or concern.
If a guild member has problem with another member they should talk directly to that member in effort to resolve the problem. If that is not effective, they should take their problem to an officer or the guild leaders for assistance. No problem is too small or unimportant to seek advice from the Officers and you will never be turned away. The Crimson Dragon Members are the backbone of the guild and it is the Officers responsibility to make sure any problem or issue is resolved in the best way possible.
If a member has a problem with an officer: Talk with the guild leaders or another officer. Never argue in guild chat with another member, officer or the guild leaders. Take your discussion to tells or create a channel to deal with the problem. Take advantage of the personal messaging option on our website if someone is not in game to talk with when you are on-line.
GROUP & LOOT ETIQUETTE:
Don't hog loot! Whenever a Crimson Dragon is in a group you are in fact representing us as a guild. Don't be greedy. We are a NBG (need before greed) guild and this extends to non guild groups.
Don't leach experience. If you're in a group and you need to go afk, let the group know you are going afk. If you need to go afk for a long period of time, or aren't sure how long you will be afk, disband group until you get back. If you're in a dangerous spot, log out. If you go afk longer than the group leader thinks is appropriate, expect to be disbanded until you return. Everyone must put forth the effort it takes to earn the experience they get.
Be honest. Don’t say you need the loot (be it for yourself or an alt) when, in fact, you plan to sell it for personal gain. Being dishonest for personal gain is greedy, and will not be tolerated. If an item drops that no one needs, everyone needs the opportunity to roll on it to sell. Being dishonest ruins trust others have in you.
POLICY ON GUILDED CHARACTERS
There is no limit on the number of Secondary characters (alts) you wish to be tagged we do ask that only "active" alts be kept on the roster, any inactive (not logged in for 60+ days) will be removed, but may be re tagged when/if they become active again.
New recruits may have their active alts tagged, all must be clearly labeled in guild notes as an alt and the name of the main it belongs to. For anyone who wishes an alt tagged, send an officer a tell with your main character, let him/her know your alt’s name, then log on the alt to be tagged.
If you, as your Main Character, choose to leave the guild, wish to apply to another guild and/or are removed from the guild, all characters must be removed from CD. If someone has a Main in another guild, then no secondary characters are allowed in CD, unless arrangements have been made with the Officers. Arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis. A Main in CD who wishes an Alt to remain in another guild will not normally be allowed, but can be on a case-by-case basis depending on the explanation of the need of the member to the Officers.
Members who have left CD in good standing (drama free exit) will be welcome back the first time at recruit status. Subsequent returns if any will be at leader's discretion. Membership in CD is a privilege not to be taken lightly.
POLICY ON INACTIVE CHARACTERS
Alts- Alts that have been inactive for 90 days will be removed. You may contact an officer for re-invite when/if the alt becomes actively played again.
Mains - Inactive mains with less than 50K guild status will be removed from the roster after 90 days, those with under 400K will be removed after 6 months of inactivity. Those with over 400K of status will not be removed but be moved to "Inactive"rank.
* Exceptions *Those who have notified the Guild Leader(s) of a prolonged absence togame and an intent to return will also remain "Inactive" for up to 1 year regardless of Status points.
If you are removed for inactivity and return to the game later you may re-apply, however acceptance of your application will be subject to class openings at the time.
RECRUIT PRIVILEGES
New and re-joining players will go through a two week recruit period. During this time not all of the guild functions will be available. Recruits will not be able to access the guild bank or host events until promoted to member rank. Recruits will be able to attend all events and should get to know all the wonderful Crimson Dragon members during this time.
